Faculty of Education

The faculty of education at Albaha university has been incorporated to the university since its establishment. It used to be named as teachers’ college of education that were directly administered by the Ministry of Education since 1409. According to the decree number 3514/ MB dated on 3/5/1427 and the agreement of Saudi government number 10/5/1429 in 29/4/1429 the faculty of teachers’ Education directly become administered By Albaha University and named the faculty of education.

Vision

The Department of Curricula and Teaching Methods at the College of Education, Al-Baha University, looks forward to preparing the teacher through modern academic programs that comply with the criteria and indicators of institutional and program accreditation and contribute to the development and evaluation of curricula in order to achieve quality and excellence in preparing the teacher to compete in the labor market, and to fulfill the needs of society through developing partnerships.

Message

Preparing distinguished academic programs, designing, developing and evaluating curricula to prepare teachers who are capable of innovation in the labor market, in a way that supports and stimulates the environment of scientific research, encourage participation with community, as well as providing the required educational consultations.

Objectives

The department strives to keep pace with the strategic plan of the college by achieving the objectives related to the areas of the department as follows:

 

1-Evaluating and developing teacher preparation programs for different levels of education in the light of quality standards and improving performance through:

 

-Evaluation of primary school teacher preparation programs, middle and secondary school teacher preparation programs in the light of Saudi teacher preparation standards and indicators as suggested by the National Commission for Academic Accreditation and Assessment Guide.

-Conducting workshops for members of the department to discuss the evaluation of teacher preparation programs in different educational levels.

 

-External evaluation of teachers’ programs after n by specialists in the Ministry of Education in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in preparation for Accreditation.

 

2- Evaluating and developing curricula and syllabus of various courses in the light of quality standards and improving performance through:

• Reviewing the syllabus of the current courses and evaluating their adequacy in the light of the standards of quality and academic accreditation in Saudi Arabia.

• Formation of specialized committees in different disciplines to review the description of the courses and to see the most appropriate ways to develop the existing courses and evaluate them internally and externally.

• Present the syllabus to specialized reviewers.

• Responding to the reviewers proposed amendments and building syllabus in line with the standards of quality and academic accreditation.

 

3- Evaluating different approaches and teaching methods in the light of quality standards and improving performance through:

• Focusing on approaches and teaching methods that encourage student-centeredness.

• Implementation of workshops that clarify the characteristics of modern teaching methods.

• Directing postgraduate research towards modern approaches and teaching methods and studying the obstacles of its application in public and higher education schools.

• Holding training courses targeting faculty members at the university to activate the importance of modern approaches and teaching methods more broadly.

• Prepare models using these approaches, strategies and methods.

• Evaluation of the effectiveness of models.

 

4-Evaluation and development of educational research in the department in the light of quality standards and improve performance through:

• Holding workshops to discuss the outputs of scientific research in the curriculum and teaching methods.

• Evaluation of educational research in different disciplines in line with modern trends in the twenty-first century.

• Urge faculty members and graduate students to participate actively in local and international conferences and encourage the participation of editorial boards in specialized educational journals.
