The Faculty of Engineering is one of the first faculties that were established at Albaha University. The Faculty has five scientific departments: Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architecture and Computer Engineering. Each department has a program that grant a bachelor's degree in engineering. The Faculty seeks to provide its students with a distinctive learning environment that contributes to the preparation of highly qualified engineers to contribute to the development of the Kingdom.

Praise be to Allah who taught by the pen, taught man that which he knew not. Peace and blessings be upon the best of mankind Muhammad, his family and companions.

Engineering is one of the sciences that have advanced human civilization and jumped high leaps towards development and prosperity. Because of the importance of engineering sciences, as well as other fields of science, the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques has spared no effort in providing all kinds of support to all universities in this country.

We at Albaha University and particularly in the Faculty of Engineering are working on everything that will achieve the highest gains and the best outputs. We have strived to have a distinguished academic staff, and study plans which are in line with the international standards and the needs of the labor market to ensure that the graduates of the Faculty are able to be creative, engage and achieve goals.

Since all of us are facing a big dream and an ambitious vision 2030 launched and led by the Prince of Youth, Crown Prince, His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, may God protect him, that aims to achieve a prosperous economy built by young men and women of this country, I appeal to all dear students, especially in the Faculty of Engineering, to push their limits so that we can fly together in the skies of this country with knowledge, progress and success.

About

 

The Vice Deanship for Academic Affairs is responsible for organizing and following up all academic services within the college, such as academic consulting, follow-up of the educational process and exams, and coordination with the University Vice-president for Academic Affairs, Deanship of Admission and Registration and Deanship of Student Affairs to solve obstacles and problems encountering the students. The Vice-Deanship aims to raise the level of academic consulting in the college and achieve the highest quality in the academic programs conducted by the college.

Tasks

 

The Vice Deanship for Academic Affairs performs the following tasks:

  • Planning, implementing and supervising the implementation of the academic consulting process in the college and raising awareness and coordination with the Academic Advising Center, the Deanship of Admission and Registration and the Deanship of Student Affairs.
  • Working to improve the competitiveness of the College for academic consulting with other colleges.
  • Working on the publication of regulations, instructions and rules governing the study and examinations and all related to academic services within the scientific departments.
  • Introducing students to the objectives and mission of the college, educational programs, scientific departments, areas of work of graduates, and aspects of care and services provided to students; in addition to consulting students to choose appropriate disciplines that suit their abilities and potentials.
  • Supervising orientation programs for new students to introduce the system of study and exams in the college.
  • Paying close attention to distinguished students and provide what would enhance their abilities and support their creativity.
  • Chairing the meetings of the Academic Advising Unit periodically or as new reports to discuss periodic reports or extraordinary reports submitted by academic advisors.

About

 

The Vice-Deanship for Quality and Development aims to develop the academic and administrative work of the Faculty to comply with the latest quality practices and academic accreditation that are followed locally and globally, as well as to develop and train the staff of the Faculty in achieving these practices, in direct coordination with the University’s Vice-Presidency for Quality and Development.

The Vice-Deanship also works to ensure the pursuit of strategic goals of the Faculty that are in line with the University's strategic goals, and also, to measure the key performance indicators of the Faculty and its programs periodically and set targets for those indicators and work on achieving them. In addition, the Vice-Deanship periodically investigates the possibility of developing appropriate graduate programs that meet the University's strategic goals in line with the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030.

Tasks

 

  • Developing the academic and administrative work at the Faculty in accordance with the latest practices of quality and academic accreditation followed locally and globally.
  • Coordinating with the University’s Vice-Presidency for Quality and Development in achieving the University's strategic goals.
  • Supervising the measurement of key performance indicators for the Faculty and its programs and set targets for these indicators and follow up their achievement.
  • Working on the development and training of the staff of the Faculty in order to achieve the objectives of development and quality.
  • Following up on achieving the academic and institutional accreditation requirements that are required from the college and its programs.
  • Following up on the implementation of opinion polls required from the Faculty as well as its graduates in order to measure the degree of satisfaction and work on improvement plans.

Introduction

 

The Department of Civil Engineering has been established since the establishment of the Faculty of Engineering in 1426/1427 H with the purpose of contributing to meet the Kingdom's need for civil engineers. Civil engineering is one of the most important branches of engineering and specializes in the study and design of construction projects, infrastructure, tunnels, bridges, buildings, irrigation systems, water and sewage systems, surveying and road works. The study plan of the department is designed to cover all aspects of civil engineering and provide the graduate with sufficient knowledge to be qualified to work in all those disciplines. The Department is witnessing a high turnout of students joining the Faculty of Engineering, because of its good reputation and teaching competencies and a great ability to prepare students for the labor market.

Through this file the college can make assessment of the student and find appropriate solutions of the problems they face.
  • To help the students by planning an educational program consistent with their interests, abilities and needs of the labor market.
  • To encourage the outstanding students to enhance their success, direct them toward their abilities and invest their potentiality in areas of excellence in all aspects of their career.
  • To advise the students on the selection of courses appropriate for their level and abilities.

Department of Electrical Engineering

Department of Electrical Engineering

Introduction

 

The Department of Electrical Engineering awards a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering during ten semesters. The department offers high quality programs and prepares highly skilled graduates that enable them to compete in the labor market and possess basic knowledge in engineering, mathematics and basic sciences associated with practical experience in the field of electrical engineering. The department enables students to use appropriate knowledge effectively in the field of specialization to contribute to innovative engineering solutions and research, and to continue to update and develop practical knowledge and experience and acquire the necessary skills after graduation to enable them to engage in lifelong learning and the ability to work in multidisciplinary groups or teams.

The Department's courses cover two major courses in electrical engineering sciences through elective courses and a graduation project. The first track is the path of power engineering and electrical machines and the second track is the path of communications engineering. The plan also includes renewable energy fields such as solar and wind energy.

The department attracts highly qualified faculty members from various international universities and in various disciplines that serve the electrical engineering sciences and contribute effectively in the fields of teaching, scientific research and community service.

Laboratory activities are a major and important part of the educational process.

Academic Consulting

 

Academic advisors are assigned from the faculty members of the department so that students are distributed among academic advisors according to the enrolment students’ cohorts. Each academic advisor will be responsible for a single student's cohort from the date of enrollment to the graduation year. The academic advisor is responsible for following up the student from the academic point of view, assisting him and giving him appropriate advice to overcome the difficulties that the student may face. He is also familiar with the regulations and procedures governing the educational process of the student.

Introduction

 

Since the establishment of the department, study plans and regulations are developed in line with technological and information development so that the graduate can keep pace with the times and be able to innovate in architectural and urban design with manual and electronic skills and be able to  compete in the domestic and international market. He can also produce detailed and executive designs and able to study bids and tenders and conclude contracts, in addition to considering the social, economic and environmental aspects. The importance of the department is the increasing need for local designers to keep pace with the urban development in Saudi Arabia, which reflects the physical, cultural and spiritual nature of society. The study is characterized by a special nature, related to many issues in the life of the individual and society; therefore, the study areas were not limited to theoretical study, but also extended to include the Department's active role in the research and development of solutions to many of the problems faced by the community in the areas of architecture, building science and urban planning.

The Bachelor of Architecture degree program provides a solid foundation for students to learn how to design, build and operate buildings with an increased focus on integrating green building related products and materials. Graduates of this program may find many jobs in this fast growing field related to design, construction and planning.

The Department of Electrical Engineering is one of the most important scientific and practical departments due to the acceleration of development in the past decade, whether in the field of production and generation of electric power, electronics and communications, or the field of control systems, making the preparation of future engineers - in three areas - the main objective of the department. In addition, the department works to enhance the skills of students to graduate engineers with high abilities to enter the battles of the government and industrial labor market, both in Saudi Arabia and abroad, which is for the benefit of the country or representation honorably.

The main objective of the Electrical Engineering program is to prepare engineers in the field of electrical engineering, capable of designing and analyzing electrical power systems as well as various communication systems with the ability to contemplate all the new ones. The graduates are expected to work as electrical engineers in the fields of electrical power systems, communication systems and automated control through specialized industrial companies in these fields.

The graduate of the Department of Electrical Engineering has a wide range of employment opportunities in all government and private sectors. Whereas, electricity and telecommunications companies, public and private power plants, and all factories that contribute to the development of the national economy are considered the biggest custodians of these opportunities. Other ministries need electrical engineers to operate and maintain their various facilities. In addition, there are opportunities for graduates to work in the public and private contracting sector.

The student represents the main priority of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, where our students have all our interest. The department works with all its members and its potential to produce students with a special place in the industrial establishments, which appears in their jobs in various engineering sectors such as power plants, desalination plants, Iron and steel companies, basic industries companies, petroleum refining and petrochemical companies, and other government and private sectors. Graduates of the mechanical engineering program can find jobs in research and development of new products, design of systems and equipment, supervision of production, maintenance, management, engineering sales and testing. Overview

 

The Department of Architecture at Al-Baha University allows its students to obtain a bachelor's degree in Architecture by completing the study plan agreed upon by the Department. These include 165 credit hours and thus qualify to enter the labor market and employ all the skills and abilities acquired during his years of study in various professional fields.

Objectives

 

The main objective of the architecture program is to prepare engineers in-depth in the field of architecture, capable of designing different buildings at the best standards with the ability to apply modern engineering systems in them. The graduates are expected to work as architects in the fields of architecture, design and urban planning

Overview

 

The current age is full of computer applications in all aspects of life, starting with supper computers used in military, industry, and research. Then come multi-tasking personal computers used in business, and personal applications. Last, but not least, the embedded computers used to control other devices such as robots, traffic signals, electronic injection, smart phones, and home appliances.

The department offers a high-quality program aiming at preparing graduates highly-skilled in computer engineering so that they can compete in the work market and they can adapt themselves to its change.

Objectives

 

The department is keen about presenting a study plan conformed with the international standards and considers the diversity of the computer engineering field. The study plan provides the student with the theoretical and practical knowledge compatible with the international requirements of the computer Engineering area. It qualifies engineers who will take a part in the development of their country, national transformation, and implementing the Kingdom vision 2030.

Outcomes

 

Upon graduation, students are expected to be able to:

  • Identify and apply knowledge of Mathematics and engineering for solving computer engineering problems.
  • Design, implement and maintain efficient computer systems (Hardware/ Software) with the respect of the costumers needs and respecting realistic constraints.
  • Work effectively on multidisciplinary teams.

The spectrum of the employment opportunity for computer engineering graduate is undoubtedly the most spacious among all other engineering programs.  They would have the opportunity to work in all government and private sectors. All modern industries use computers to intelligently organize and manage their businesses and improve the efficiency and quality of the productions, therefore, computer engineers are essential part of their work force. Industries, such as oil industries, communication industries, food industries and electronic industries name a few all employ computer engineers to benefit from the knowledge and the intelligent thinking they have gained through training that cable of enhancing performance and improving their companies.
