Faculty of Engineering

The Faculty of Engineering is one of the first faculties that were established at Albaha University. The Faculty has five scientific departments: Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Architecture and Computer Engineering. Each department has a program that grant a bachelor's degree in engineering. The Faculty seeks to provide its students with a distinctive learning environment that contributes to the preparation of highly qualified engineers to contribute to the development of the Kingdom.

Introduction

The Department of Electrical Engineering awards a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering during ten semesters. The department offers high quality programs and prepares highly skilled graduates that enable them to compete in the labor market and possess basic knowledge in engineering, mathematics and basic sciences associated with practical experience in the field of electrical engineering. The department enables students to use appropriate knowledge effectively in the field of specialization to contribute to innovative engineering solutions and research, and to continue to update and develop practical knowledge and experience and acquire the necessary skills after graduation to enable them to engage in lifelong learning and the ability to work in multidisciplinary groups or teams.

The Department's courses cover two major courses in electrical engineering sciences through elective courses and a graduation project. The first track is the path of power engineering and electrical machines and the second track is the path of electronics and communications engineering. The plan also includes renewable energy fields such as solar and wind energy.

The department attracts highly qualified faculty members from various international universities and in various disciplines that serve the electrical engineering sciences and contribute effectively in the fields of teaching, scientific research and community service.

Laboratory activities are a major and important part of the educational process.

Excellence in engineering education, scientific research, and community service.

Mission:

Preparation of distinguished engineering cadres that are able to keep up with the needs of the labor market and providing innovative research that contribute in solving engineering and environmental problems for the community, in addition to providing a good environment for learning.

Objectives

1- Possessing the fundamental knowledge: This goal is aimed at possessing the fundamental knowledge in engineering, mathematics, and basic sciences coupled with practical expertise in electrical engineering field.

2- The use of appropriate knowledge: This goal is aimed at using of appropriate knowledge effectively in the specialization field to contribute in conducting engineering solutions and innovative research.

3- Continuing updating and development: This goal is aimed at continuing updating and development of knowledge, practical expertise, and skills after graduation and engaging in life-long learning.

4- Working effectively within a team: This goal is aimed at working effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team and the ability of functioning responsibly in diverse environments.

Academic Consulting

Academic advisors are assigned from the faculty members of the department so that students are distributed among academic advisors according to the enrolment students’ cohorts. Each academic advisor will be responsible for a single student's cohort from the date of enrollment to the graduation year. The academic advisor is responsible for following up the student from the academic point of view, assisting him and giving him appropriate advice to overcome the difficulties that the student may face. He is also familiar with the regulations and procedures governing the educational process of the student.
