The Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences (FAMS) was established in Albaha University in 1426H in response to the needs of the community of the specialized cadres in Applied Medical Sciences. The Faculty relies on the latest academic standards based on the scientific method and the development of developmental and analytical approaches and Psychomotor skills, and not just acquiring and retrieving specific information through lectures, panel discussions, scientific teaching, practical training, and developmental research to cope with medical developments and the pace of economic development. The Faculty has five study programs offered by five academic departments: Laboratory Medicine Department, Dental Health Department, Nursing Department, Optometry Department and Community Health Sciences Department (public health). Although, Optometry program was stopped from accepting new students and has now been under activation.

Bachelor of Community Health – Public Health Path

Overview

The Community Health Department at the Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences in Al-Baha University was established in 2006 to fulfil the community needs from the Public Health specialists. The department aims to graduate qualified national specialists in Public Health field, to serve the local community, to advances the community health awareness and to contributes in the development of the healthcare and medical services systems.

Objectives

  • Graduate specialists in consistent with regional and excellent international standardization, and with noble Islamic and professional ethics.

  • Provide students with skills and knowledge tools that qualify them to pursue higher studies in the field of public health.

  • Contribute in developing public health sciences, and the department to become an educational platform at both local and global level in field of public health.

  • Contribute in advancing local health awareness and participate in promoting local public health.

  • Conduct public health research that serve local community.

Outcomes

  1. Understand theoretical knowledge and practical techniques and skills of Public Health.
  2. Raise critical awareness of current research relating to resolution of Public Health issues by using evidence-based dentistry
  3. Cognitive Skills

5.1. Demonstrate and re-demonstrate proficient, safe, professional health care according to widespread standards in many different settings for different clients/ patients.

5.2. Conduct to inform community public health awareness programs based on client/ patients' needs in different Public Health settings.

 

4.1. Create instructive educational activities and professional subjects by using e-learning.

4.2. Establish communication channels with faculty members through e-learning.

Psychomotor

 

3.1. Establish cooperative method between all colleagues and the medical team in the several disciplines.

3.2. Determine the student's responsibility, accountability and leadership practices while working with clients, patients and health care providers' team.

2.1. Understand the importance of using other medical sciences in relation to Public Health for enhancing the quality performance.

2.2. Ability of students on using problem solving approach and take a creative method in decision making related to problem solving in various Public Health matters.
