Bachelor of Doctor of Pharmacy

Overview

 

The Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) program is one of the newest programs in pharmacy which is considered as one of the developments in the traditional pharmacy programs (Bachelor of Pharmacy or Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Sciences). The student obtains a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) degree after completing five academic years in addition to the internship year (clinical training), during which the student studies pharmaceutical sciences and clinical skills, which qualifies the student to work as a pharmacist and increases the chances of completing graduate studies and specialization in one of the disciplines of clinical pharmacy.

Objectives

 

Prepare, develop and train students to be qualified and provide optimal treatment and counselling to patients and community and to be an active member of the medical team treating patients

Outcomes

 

Prepare qualified pharmacists to help in raising drug awareness and appropriate use of medications among community, which helps to the quality of life and reduce healthcare cost.

Potential Jobs

 

The holder of the bachelor’s degree of Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D) can work in all pharmacy areas including: academic, government hospitals, private hospitals, primary healthcare centres, community pharmacies, pharmaceutical companies and governmental and regulatory agencies responsible for the pharmaceutical field.
