About
The establishment of the Department of Arabic Language at the faculty of Science and Arts in al-Mikhwāh is coincided with the establishment of the faculty, where it has begun by awarding a full-time bachelor’s degree with a specialization in Arabic language and literature, and then has expanded to open the part-time path, and looks forward expanding its programs by opening postgraduate studies.
Message
The department’s message is to prepare distinguished scientific competencies from the department’s graduates, in accordance with quality standards, labor needs, and developments of the times, and qualifying them to contribute to national development and community services.
Objectives
The Department at the faculty of science and arts in Mikhwāh aims to achieve a following objectives:
- Preparing male and female graduates with a bachelor’s degree in Arabic language and literature to meet the national and societal development needs of specialists in Arabic studies.
- Upgrading students’ basic communicational skills in the fields of reading, writing, speaking and listening.
- Building bridges of communication with the local community by holding lectures and seminars on literary, linguistic and cultural issues.
- Strengthening the relations of Arabic studies with other interdisciplinary studies.
- Providing enrolled male and female students in the department and the university’s programs in general with the necessary language skills; to enrich their intellectual and cultural assets.

The Department of Arabic language at al-Mikhwāh faculty of science and arts offers a bachelor's program in Arabic for full-time and part-time students.

Academic Consulting
The Academic Advising program seeks to advise new and current male and female students to allow them successfully completing their academic studies, so academic advising aims to achieve the following goals:
- Assisting new and current students in getting acquainted with the academic and guiding regulations and systems for the registration and admission processes in the department, and directing them accordingly. It also aims to increasing the students’ awareness of the university’s mission, goals and regulations.
- Following-up the students academically to help them accomplishing their academic studies efficiently, and within the available regular time (4 years).
- Increasing the level of on campus awareness of the university’s mission, goals and regulations, as well as the resources and services provided by the university to improve the educational level of students.
- Directing and advising students who face challenges and difficulties in attaining success in their studies, and taking care of them to increase their scientific knowledge, and to help them overcome the challenges they face.
- Achieving academic adaptation for students, especially new students, in order to create a kind of familiarity between them and their already enrolled colleagues.
- Paying attention to cases of academic delay, and working on studying the causes of such delay, and providing solutions and preventive assistance.
- Providing preventive and developmental advisory services that achieve effectiveness and productive adequacy in the field of academic achievement.
- Helping students to define their future goals and helping them design their plans based on those goals in line with their readiness.
Academic Accreditation
Academic accreditation is a procedural method through which a comprehensive evaluation is given to an educational program or an educational institution. This goes by reviewing the competency and quality standards is set in advance by the organization, in an effort to reach the efficiency of these programs or institutions. The Department of Arabic language at al-Mikhwāh faculty of science and arts seeks through continuous review and hard work, to obtain academic accreditation in the foreseeable future.
