As a response to the national development requirements and the integrative role of the higher education in labor market, the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at Albaha University was established by the royal decree no. 9682/MB dated 05-08-1426H to meet labor market needs in the public and private sectors. The Faculty includes distinguished theoretical scientific departments of Islamic Studies, Arabic Language, Foreign Languages and History. The Faculty is committed to its educational, research and community service responsibilities in accordance with the University vision and the Kingdom educational policies.

This program aligns with Al-Baha University's vision and mission, as it seeks to achieve quality standards and academic accreditation, with the aim of exceling and leading locally, and internationally. This will contribute to the development of the Saudi Arab society in general, and, to motivate graduate students and researchers in special, to make more efforts to access and enrich the resources of knowledge.


  • Providing distinguished qualification in the specialization of Quran and Prophetic Sunnah.
  • Contributing to the preparation of the scholars who are conscious, intellectually moderate, specialized in scientific thoughtfulness with prophetic Sunnah, and capable of understanding the Islamic heritage from its original sources and well-established rules ;
  • Meeting the needs of Saudi society, and providing it outstanding and well learned graduates;
  • Developing the skills of scientific thinking among graduate students based on modern research curricula.

Learning Outcomes

( Knowledge)

1) The student will be equipped with the Islamic legal rules in Quran and the prophetic Sunnah as well as the jurisprudence of the methodology of the doctrinal study.

2) The student will be able to review the issues of legal judgment, evidence, proofs and not to neglect the conflict and weighting.

3) The student will learn how to clarify the rules of jurisprudence, their controls and the rules, and everything that emanates from it concerning the controls and the disciplines.

4) The student will be proficient in interpreting the verses of the judgements in the holly Quran, in accordance with the scientific methodology of interpretation and based on the interpretation’ origins, its rules and its sciences.

5) The student will be competent in explaining the judgments’ hadiths based on the scientific methodology for the study of hadith, the rules of hadith sciences, and the origins of narration.

6) The student will be intellectually developed in identifying the most prominent concepts, theories, and principles related to the Quran and the prophetic Sunnah.

( The Skills )

1) The student will be skilled in analyzing the texts and use the terms correctly.

2) The student shall be capable in extracting and understanding the legal Islamic judgements from the texts of the Quran and the prophetic Sunnah, in accordance with the scientific methodology.

3) The student shall have the expertise of applying the rules on the parts of the old issues and the new emerging issues.

4) The student will have the intellectual capacity of using the rules and the jurisprudence.

5) The student shall have the flair of applying the methodology of scientific research in practice.
