The Faculty of Applied Medical Sciences (FAMS) was established in Albaha University in 1426H in response to the needs of the community of the specialized cadres in Applied Medical Sciences. The Faculty relies on the latest academic standards based on the scientific method and the development of developmental and analytical approaches and Psychomotor skills, and not just acquiring and retrieving specific information through lectures, panel discussions, scientific teaching, practical training, and developmental research to cope with medical developments and the pace of economic development. The Faculty has five study programs offered by five academic departments: Laboratory Medicine Department, Dental Health Department, Nursing Department, Optometry Department and Community Health Sciences Department (public health). Although, Optometry program was stopped from accepting new students and has now been under activation.

Duties of the Vice

Duties of the Vice Deanship for Graduate Studies, Research, Innovation, and Quality:

  • Supervision of Graduate Programs: Organizing and overseeing all aspects of graduate studies, including admissions, academic advising, and curriculum development.
  • Promoting Scientific Research: Encouraging faculty members and students to conduct outstanding research that addresses societal challenges and promotes innovation.
  • Managing Academic Quality: Implementing quality standards and academic accreditation across the college's programs, ensuring the highest levels of education and research quality.
  • Development and Innovation: Supporting innovative and entrepreneurial initiatives that contribute to the development of the healthcare sector and medical fields, with a focus on applied research that enhances the college's standing.
  • Coordination with External Entities: Collaborating with government and private institutions to enhance training and joint research opportunities and attract partnerships that contribute to educational and research development.
  • Evaluating Academic Performance: Monitoring and evaluating the academic and research performance of all programs and departments to ensure continuous improvement and development.

The deanship aims to create an integrated environment that supports academic and research excellence, contributing to the college's goals and enhancing its role as a leading institution in the field of applied medical sciences.
