Department of Electrical Engineering

Introduction

The Department of Electrical Engineering at Al-Baha University was established in 2006 as one of the foundational academic pillars of the College of Engineering and a scientific hub dedicated to preparing qualified national professionals in the fields of energy, electronics, and communications. The department launched with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, aspiring to deliver high-quality engineering education that aligns with contemporary academic and technological advancements while responding to the evolving demands of both local and global labor markets.

The department is home to a distinguished faculty comprising members of diverse nationalities and specialized expertise, many of whom graduated from prestigious international universities. Their combined academic depth and practical experience enrich the learning environment and elevate the quality of educational outcomes. The department also features comprehensive teaching and research laboratories, including foundational labs that cover core concepts in electrical engineering and electronics, as well as advanced labs equipped with cutting-edge technologies in renewable energy, control systems, and communications. These facilities have been developed in collaboration with leading global companies to provide students with high-quality, hands-on experiences that simulate industrial realities and foster innovation and scientific research.

The Department of Electrical Engineering offers a stimulating environment for academic and research excellence. It is committed to delivering advanced educational programs and curricula that adhere to international standards and support the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 in building a sustainable knowledge-based economy. The department actively seeks strategic partnerships with industrial and academic institutions and promotes a culture of research and innovation among students, reinforcing its status as a distinguished academic destination in the region.

The department’s program—namely, the Bachelor of Electrical Engineering—has received full academic accreditation from the National Commission for Academic Accreditation and Assessment (NCAAA), affirming the department’s commitment to quality standards and institutional excellence. This accreditation serves as a testament to the program’s effectiveness and enhances the competitiveness of its graduates in both domestic and international professional arenas.

Head of Department Message

Dear students of the Department of Electrical Engineering, esteemed visitors,

The Department of Electrical Engineering represents a vibrant academic and research community—one that grows and evolves each day. Since its establishment, we have been committed to cultivating a learning environment that reflects our aspirations: dynamic, opportunity-rich, and deeply motivating. Quality, for us, is not a slogan—it is a daily practice embedded in every lecture, every project, and every decision.

We believe that specialization is not built solely through textbooks but through the convergence of diverse minds. We take pride in our faculty members, who come from varied academic and cultural backgrounds, united by a shared mission: to offer students the very best in knowledge and mentorship. Our laboratories are not merely instructional tools—they are platforms for innovation and experimentation, gateways to the future.

My message to our students: You are in a place worthy of your time and effort. Aspire beyond grades. We are here to empower you—not merely to direct you. We want to hear your ideas, witness your projects, and celebrate your achievements.

The Department of Electrical Engineering is more than an academic unit—it is a story of ambition, written through the dedication of its students and faculty and through our shared belief that education is the foundation of progress and that engineering is the language of the future.
