Faculty Of Science and Arts in ALMandaq

Faculty of Science and Arts, Al-Mandaq was established according to the Higher Education Council Resolution No. (10/5 / 1429 H) issued in the second session on 29/4/1429 H. to meet the needs of community and provide state apparatuses with qualified scientific competencies, and as a contribution to building various development plans, Allah willing. The College includes both parts for male and female students, eight scientific departments that grant a bachelor’s degree, namely: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics, Home Economics, including the (Interior Design) and (Fashion Design and Textile Technology) tracks, Islamic Studies, Arabic Language, English Language.

About

The department of physics has been established since 1440 H in order to contribute in the developing of the educational level and providing the labor market with distinguished graduates in the field of the physics.  The department of physics contains a lot of labors which covering the different kinds of physics branches like mechanics, properties of mater, heat, electricity and magnetism, optics, nuclear physics, solid state physics. The physics program has been designed in consistent with the requirements of job market in the field of physics and the requirements of development and the vision of the Kingdom 2030 .

Message

Preparing of distinguished graduates in the field of physics that able to compete and contribute effectively to meet the needs of the development plans in the Kingdom by providing programs corresponding to global developments.

Objectives

  1. Upgrading the educational process through:

 

Providing students with basic principles and concepts in physics

Providing students with advanced knowledge and modern theories related to physical phenomena

Provide students with balanced skills in various areas of physics (experimental، theoretical and mathematical)

 

  1. Developing the skills of faculty members through:

 

Continuous training for faculty members

Selecting the best elements to join the department

 

 

  1.  Improving the scientific research system in the department through:

Preparing students to work on solving research and applied problems in physics

Improve the infrastructure of the research laboratories and establish a central laboratory

Improve the outputs of scientific research

Development of graduate programs

Support scientific publishing

Supporting creativity and innovation research

4- developing of infrastructure within the department through:

 

developing of laboratories, classrooms and offices of faculty members and the technical environment as well as security services and maintenance

 

 

 Strengthening the bonds of cooperation with the relevant institutions of society through:

 

preparing of physicist able to meet the requirements of the community and the labour market.

Academic Consulting

The arrangements for academic counselling and advices for the students, including scheduling of faculty office hours, advices on program planning, subjects selection and career planning are announced and published to the students in the physics department and the faculty website
The student Academic counselling can be summarized as follows:

  • Identifying an academic advisor from faculty members to each student since joining the program
  • Follow-up the academic performance of the student through the Academic counselling Unit in the faculty.
  • Providing the student with the advice needed for specialization and employment after graduates
  • Providing advice on the personal, social and educational aspects of the student
  • contributing to develop appropriate solutions to what may be encountered by the student academic problems, and avoid

the shortcomings in application of the program

Identifying specific office hours in each faculty member's weekly, these hours should be scheduled and announced in a dedicated place, and clear to students, in order to provide academic assistance to students on the stages of the program and the difficulties that may be encountered before, during and after the program.
