On behalf of myself and on behalf of the staff of the Faculty of Science and Arts in Al-Mandaq, including the faculty members, administrators, technicians, male and female students. I am pleased to welcome your visit to the college website.

The Faculty of Science and Arts in Al-Mandaq is one of the faculties of     Al-Baha University that provides a distinctive educational, research and community service to the people of Al-Mandaq and its neighboring governorates in particular, and the people of Al-Baha and other regions in general. It contributes to the graduation of qualified national cadres capable of participating in building the country and the citizen, and it contributes to the fulfilment of the Kingdom vision of 2030. The College offers a bachelor degree in ten disciplines belonging to eight scientific and literary departments.

In addition to the role played by the college in the fields of education and scientific research, the college enjoys great support from the leadership of the university represented by His Excellency, the rector of the university and the deputies, to play the role assigned to it in the field of community service. As it provides training courses, seminars, specialized workshops and various activities to serve its employees, male/female students and community members inside or outside the corridors.

Introduction

 

The Arabic Language Department was built in 1430-1431 H as one of the departments of the Faculty of Sciences and Arts, Al Mandaq, which was established in 1430 H.

Arabic Department provides students with varied sciences of Arabic language: the language, syntax, morphology, rhetoric, literature, criticism, phonetics, structure, semantics, and pragmatics due to distinctive academic programs taught theoretically and practically according to study plan based on credit hours.

Guarantee the quality of Arabic language learning/ teaching programs and connect it with other interdisciplinary studies.  

Mission

 

Distinctiveness in preparing qualified cadres in Arabic language who contribute in serving the community, maintaining the Arabic identity of Islamic nation, and developing it due to the requirements of the era.

Objectives

 

  1. Implant the sacredness of the Arabic language in the students because of its connection with the Nobel Quran and enhance the spirit of affiliation and defense of it.
  2. Narrow the existing gap between the community and the standard Arabic language.
  3. Connect the students with the authentic heritage on one hand, and support the Arabic identity with the benefit from the modern era information on the other hand.
  4. Prepare the male/female graduates, the holders of bachelor degree in Arabic language and its literatures to meet the community needs and to be in line with the labor market.
  5. Contribute in developing and educating the community through the linguistic voluntary service as free learning programs of Arabic/non-Arabic speakers: many courses in developing the linguistic taste and improving the Arabic ascription, linguistic correction, diction revision for the advertising boards and signposts, and provide the community with the linguistic consultation.  
  6. Prepare qualified academicians for university work through opening postgraduate programs in the future with Allah willingness.
  7. Encourage the scientific research and provide students with basic skills of its perfect writing.
  8. Enliven the Arabic heritage in the Arabic language sciences and its literatures to benefit from the cultured/educated people in different countries.
  9. Contribute in developing the skillful capabilities programs, which the university may hope to carry out such as preparing the preachers, writers, media personnel and others.

The department of physics has been established since 1440 H in order to contribute in the developing of the educational level and providing the labor market with distinguished graduates in the field of the physics.  The department of physics contains a lot of labors which covering the different kinds of physics branches like mechanics, properties of mater, heat, electricity and magnetism, optics, nuclear physics, solid state physics. The physics program has been designed in consistent with the requirements of job market in the field of physics and the requirements of development and the vision of the Kingdom 2030 .

The student Academic counselling can be summarized as follows:

Department of mathematics was established at the Faculty of Sciences and Arts in 1431-1432 in Almandaq to satisfy the needs of the community in education sector and supply the state organs with qualified mathematic cadres. Mathematics is considered as fundamental and important science in our life, because of various applications in different areas and contribution to the construction of various development plans if God willing.

The Biology department was established as a part of Faculty of Science and Arts – Al-Mandaq. Biology department offers Bachelor degree of Science in Biology.

The study plan is designed to include 133 credit hours, consisting of eight semesters (in total four years of study). The courses include the university requirements, the faculty requirements, and major requirements and major elective courses. The curriculum and the study plan meet the minimum requirements to develop professional biologist and to prepare graduates to become qualified biology practitioners, specialists in their respective area of specializations and also prepare them to get success in competitive business environments.  In this program, the students gain broad and extensive foundational skills in Biological sciences. Nevertheless the faculty has prospectus programs and the syllabus is designed in such a way to provide the students strong foundation for postgraduate studies in all branches of biological sciences and other related fields.

The Faculty of Sciences and Arts, Al-Mandaq was established in 1430-1431 as one of a collection of Sciences and Arts Faculties of Albaha University. These faculties have different disciplines where students choose the area of their interest. Importantly, there are twinning faculties in the same discipline for female students which award the same degree.

English department was established in 1430-1431 to provide BA degree in English language.  Students also contribute to distinctive learning services to the community and to provide the local markets with competent graduates in English language who meet the demands of the local market in teaching, translation, etc.

Teaching program should cope up with the modern approaches in English language teaching and using the education technology that makes the educational process goes smoothly and easily. Interdisciplinary education and critical thinking assist in preparing the graduates to offer unique services to their community. Communicative approach is one of the significant methods used in the class room to assist students to interact with their classmates through conversations, debates and to let them feel more confident and more comfortable in communicating with their classmates in the class room or in the medium of the study. Communicative approach lifts the spirit of competition among the students and gives students more time to practice English indoors or outdoors. The English club is established to strengthen the relationship of the teacher with his students and students are exposed to extra curricula activities which enhance the teaching/learning process.

The selection of the teaching staff at English department bases on standard criteria of quality and competence. These criteria comprise long experience and accredited academic qualifications in the area of interest that assist them to provide students with very unique learning. The curricula used in the department and the course descriptions are prepared and supervised with experts in the educational and academic area.

The academic plan contains 134 credit hours which comprise department, faculty and university perquisites. English department has a four-year-BA discipline following two-semester system. Moreover, a summer-course- system takes place regularly at different faculties through students can join course they need to catch a missing course or finish graduation requirements, etc. Students are required to study 132 credit hours to finish the requirements of graduation. Graduates of English are awarded a bachelor degree in English Language and Literature (BA).

The chemistry department offers Bachelor of Science in Chemistry program. The program provides many opportunities for careers in teaching, industry, environmental organizations and others.  In addition, it prepares students for graduate studies in chemistry and other related fields.

The study plan for the Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, meets the minimum requirements for professional chemists as defined by the American Chemical Society (ACS).  In tailoring the curriculum, the department was guided by the academic accreditation requirements, the standards of the National Commission for Academic Accreditation and Assessment (NCAAA) and according to the national qualifications framework for higher education in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. With the possibility of continuous improvement of curricula and study plans so as to respond to the expected changes that may occur in the world.

The study Plan is designed to contain 132 Credit hours, spread over eight semesters (four years of study). Courses include the university requirements, the department general requirements and Department Requirements. The curriculum and the study plan meet the minimum requirements for professionals’ chemists and prepares graduates to become qualified chemistry practitioners specialists and prepares them for success in competitive business environments.  In this program, students gain broad foundational skills in chemistry. The curriculum is designed to provide students with the foundation for postgraduate studies in all branches of chemistry and other related sciences.

The Bachelor of Science in Chemistry program at Al Baha University offers career opportunities in education, industry, government agencies, environmental studies, and medical technology, and prepares students for postgraduate studies in chemistry and other areas related to chemistry. The study plan for the Bachelor of Science in Chemistry program meets the minimum requirements of the chemical professionals as defined by the American Chemical Society. In designing the study plan, the academic accreditation requirements were addressed according to the requirements of the Saudi Academic Accreditation and Accreditation Authority (NCAAA) With future global changes and developments that may emerge.

The Department of Home Economics is a scientific department that accepts students who have a high school diploma from the scientific section only. The department has two specializations: Interior Design, Fashion Design and Textile Technology.

 The department was established in (1430/1431) - (2011/2012), and then offered a program that qualifies for the bachelor's degree in interior design, In the year 1435/1436, the second specialization was established (Fashion Design and Textile Technology).

To provide a distinct academic educational and research environment in the field of design capable of graduating national cadres with high competitiveness that meet the needs of the current market and able to deal with future environmental, societal variables and modern technologies.

Objectives

 

- Prepare specialized cadres in the field of (fashion design, textile technology and interior design) qualified for teaching and equipped with the necessary skills for the field of specialization.

Overview

 

The academic plan contains 134 credit hours which comprise department, faculty and university perquisites. English department has a four-year-BA discipline following two-semester system. Moreover, a summer-course- system takes place regularly at different faculties through students can join course they need to catch a missing course or finish graduation requirements, etc. Students are required to study 132 credit hours to finish the requirements of graduation. Graduates of English are awarded a bachelor degree in English Language and Literature (BA).

  • To prepare students and qualify them to serve their community in the area of interest such translation. literature, teaching English as a second language
