Dean's Message

 

The Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology (FCSIT) works as part of the distinguished Albaha University ecosystem. Since the issuance of the royal decree dated 1432 H, to establish the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology in Albaha campus, FCSIT has been receiving a great support from his Excellency, the Rector, and the university's vice-rectors to achieve its ambitious goals.

FCSIT offers Bachelor programs in Computer Science, Information Systems, and Information Technology. The faculty works to prepare its students with different skills, theoretical and practical qualifications to ensure giving them a head step and competitive priority in the local, regional, and global job market. Moreover, to be actively sharing in the process of developing the country and keeping up with the opportunities and employment programs offered by the university in entrepreneurship programs, private and public job markets.

Vice-Deanship for Quality and Development has been established in the academic year 2018/2019 with respect to the continuous growth of the Faculty and its different programs. It aims to create and align the academic practices in the faculty with recognized benchmarking, while assuring quality practices as well. This Vice-Deanship is responsible also for: Strategic Planning, Quality Assurance, Academic Accreditation, Statistics and Information, Alumni, Training, Community Services, Research and Higher Education Programs activities in the faculty and its different programs.

Tasks

 

  • Building and supervising the strategic plan of the faculty

  • Continuously educate faculty members about best quality practices

  • Ensuring applying appropriate academic and quality practices in the different aspects within the faculty

  • Supervising student activities for the faculty students

  • Supervising training plans with respect to faculty members, teaching assistant staff, alumni and students training and skill improvement

  • Tracking work performance at different levels, while ensuring the existence of sufficient motivations, reporting any obstacles, and recognizing outstanding performance

  • Encouraging using technology and E-learning tools within the faculty

  • Preparing the Annual Report for the faculty activities

  • Supervising alumni-related activities

The primary aim of the Vice-Deanship for Female Student Affairs, which is incorporated in the team spirit of its academic and administrative staff, is to afford a supportive interactive environment for students cultivating success and creativity in curricular and non-curricular undertakings and helping them overcome any probable academic, psychological, or social difficulty they might face.

The Vice-Deanship for Female Student Affairs consists of several units to serve students throughout their academic excursion. This service begins with the unit of registration which helps students in registering courses. This unit is supported by the unit of academic supervision for further assistance.  The students’ activities unit targets the development of the skills or talents of the students, inspiring them towards creativity and innovation, and affording essential career training and support in the search for suitable job opportunities.

The process of the academic guidance is integrated with the awareness and understanding of all the parts of the mentoring process, with the aim of guiding students to the best way to achieve desired outcomes and to adapt to the university educational system. This goal is achieved by providing the students with the various academic skills that raise their academic achievement and discuss their scientific aspirations. It also includes raising students' awareness of the University's academic and administrative rules and regulations, through various guidance services such as individual academic guidance, counseling programs and various consultations. Academic guidance aims to simplify and facilitate academic procedures in order to provide unique services to our students in a record time according to the high-quality standards and academic accreditation implemented by our faculty of CSIT

The Computer Information Systems Department provides students with a unique program as a combination of business and management courses with information systems courses covering many aspects including business analysis, business computing, programming languages, computer and information security, problem solving, databases, software applications, networking, and operating system. Academic Consulting

 

The following steps are taken to implement academic advisory:

  • Distributing students to academic advisors
  • Print reports related to the student's grades from the banner system.
  • Enter the list of academic advisors on the system with the authority to see the academic file of their students.
  • Determine the courses on which the students failed to give them particular importance.

-Follow-up the performance of the academic advisors by providing monthly reports to the Academic advisory Unit.

Academic Accreditation

 

The Department is currently working on academic accreditation by preparing the requirements for applying for accreditation through the Saudi Accreditation Authority (NCAAA). In this regard, the following has been done:

Overview

 

It the science that specializes in applying the knowledge from computer and math on all different knowledge disciplines besides the  ability to identify problems and issues and know their requirements and build suitable algorithms for them using computers to develop the appropriate solution by designing, implementing, evaluating and  preserving the computer-based systems using programming languages to satisfy the required needs.

Studying the computer science specialization leads to rabid changes in the technological environment, courses learned by students in this field enable them to operate many programs in the uses of computer industry, and it provides general glance from many fields, like: computer science theories, computer network systems, software integration, computer system design, and some common subjects, like: physics, networking science, calculus, computer programming and data structures.

  • Provide students with the flexibility to work across many disciplines of computing.
  • Prepare graduates for a variety of professions, attracting the full range of talent to the field of computer science.

  • Define introductory and system concepts and theories in computer science, including programming, software processes, algorithms, abstraction, performance, security, concurrency, computer architecture, operating systems, networking and distributed systems.
  • Describe   technical understanding of computer science as defined by the Joint Task Force on Computing Curricula Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and IEEE Computer Society.
  • Define principles, concepts, theories in science, mathematics and physics.
  • Apply knowledge of  interplay between theory and practice and the essential links between them to solve real problems, not just write code and move bits.
  • Develop and improve a system based on a quantitative and qualitative assessment of its functionality, usability and performance.
  • Explain solution to others, including why and how a solution solves the problem and what assumptions were made.
  • Demonstrate  use of  multiple programming languages, tools, paradigms, and technologies as well as the fundamental underlying principles in Final Year Project.
  • Demonstrate  the social, legal, ethical, and cultural issues inherent in the discipline of computing, and to practice and understand collective responsibility for life-long.
