The mission of Al-Baha University is to prepare a qualified generation in the several fields of applied science and knowledge. The Department of English began as early as the establishment of the Faculty of Science and Arts at Baljurashi (i.e. 1431). It offers an undergraduate program of study leading to the Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in English. Its goal is to qualify its graduates to work in various areas related to their specialization like, translation, language teaching, English – oriented sectors. The prospective graduates are awarded the Bachelor’s Degree in English after completing all academic requirements. The updated study plan consists of 134 Credit hours distributed into four years of study (eight semesters).

Providing quality education and research services in the English ‎language and serving the community to create a continuous ‎learning environment by utilizing the available resources for ‎obtaining best results.

1. Training students to develop the basic linguistic and ‎communicative skills so as to be capable of using English ‎for various purposes through utilizing the available teaching aids.
2. ‎Introducing English literature in different eras including ‎literary schools of thought.‎
3. ‎Providing students with the basics of the English language ‎and its branches.‎
4. ‎Introducing the basics of translation from English to Arabic ‎and vice versa.
5. ‎Promoting students’ creative and critical thinking along ‎with the basics of research.‎‎

The program qualifies its graduates for English-oriented jobs.
