Molecular Biology

The molecular biology course is about genes, their structure and function; therefore, students will learn nucleic acid structure and the mechanism of DNA replication, transcription, and translation in prokaryotic as well as eukaryotes. A central goal is to understand gene regulation at all levels, and the structure-function relationships of nucleic acids and proteins.

This course is designed to give a broad overview in Embryology. The course encompasses: introduction to Embryology terms and concepts, Meiosis cell division. Types of reproduction. Gamete's formation, fertilization, cleavage and lining process. Embryonic formation in Amphioxus, frog, chicken and mammals and formation of organs and embryonic membranes.

After studying this course, the student must: - Knowledge of the applied aspects of the cell science - Know the basic structure and function of various cellular organelles and identify the types of division. - Identification of chromosomal structure and chromosomal behavior during the cell cycle. - Understanding the molecular basis of different cellular structures.

General Biology

Introduce students to the branches of General Biology ; and description of living organisms  Expose students to the structure of cells and comparison between prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells and plant and animal cells.  Knowledge of biological diversity of different biological kingdoms and basics of taxonomy and comparison between animal and plant tissues in structure and function.
