This study aims to identify how Arabic language teachers use linguistic assessment methods in accordance with the requirements of distance learning. It implements the descriptive method to achieve its objectives. A questionnaire was designed, checked to ensure its validity and stability, and applied to a sample of (260) Arabic language teachers from the Northern Borders Province. Results reveal that the sample subjects highly agree with the linguistic evaluation methods in accordance with the proposed distance education requirements as suggested in this study tool. They also reveal that one of the most impactful obstacles to distance education—according to the sample—is the need for a strong internet connection to facilitate the performance of the linguistic assessment across e-learning platforms and the ease with which others can impersonate students during language tests via e-learning platforms. This current study recommends holding in-service training sessions for teachers to develop their performance. It also recommends conducting further studies that tackle the variables of this current study.

The depiction of women has been pivotal in the Orientalist discourse of representation, which has frequently been keen on inculcating in readers certain concepts and views of Oriental women, thus maintaining and expanding the Orientalist agenda. Rudyard Kipling’s Kim is no exception, even if it is predominantly a male novel, as posited by a number of critics. In this paper, I will argue that some critical views on this issue are on the whole sketchy when it comes to this novel in particular. Drawing heavily upon his immediate anthropological and ethnographical knowledge of India as well as on the enormous Orientalist chronicles, Kipling succeeds in creating an artistic masterpiece, which offers many-sided negative imagery of females whose echoes still resound in today’s media. Kim’s focus on representation remains primarily concerned with the female status in the Orient, socially, ideologically, mentally, and physically. Together, these well-knit dimensions, in addition to other elements, construct a picture that reinforces colonial aspirations. Re-considering the intricate threads and sophisticated processes of Orientalism in works such as Kim is likely to help today’s readers better understand forms of cultural denigration and appropriation diffused purposefully by hegemonic actors in various media.
